As part of its Accreditation Programme, the ICCP undertakes a periodic accreditation programme through which individual petrographers can be granted ICCP Accreditation in the techniques of petrographic analysis. Accreditation is granted only to petrographers that participate in and pass one of the periodic exercises, and applies only to work undertaken by the named analyst. In the event that the named analyst should leave the accredited laboratory, the accreditation would no longer apply. Currently, ICCP Accreditation requires successful performance in maceral group analysis and/or random reflectance.
